It’s been five years of learning what growing lavender is all about. We’ve learned a lot about what lavender needs and what it doesn’t need. What is needs is space. Our lower field is what I’ve fondly called the “Oopsie” field. So much lavender, but both the plants and rows are too close together. Great for that perfect picture, but tough for walking between the rows, harvesting, pruning, and overall plant health. So, with knowledge and experience comes change. This year we removed half of the lower field. We’re putting in better drainage for the rainy Oregon weather. We’re spacing the rows and planting beautiful grass between them. This will accentuate the plants and give space to enjoy yoga in the lavender field. We’re also going to expand on the varieties we will grow, with each row being different. Sounds fun!
